Summer is such a special time, but it can also be a little overwhelming. Long days, high energy, and the constant question: What are we going to do today?

At LE3, we know that keeping kids busy, engaged, and happy during the summer isn’t always easy. Whether you're home with a baby, chasing after a curious toddler, or trying to keep up with school-aged kids who seem to need ten different activities a day, it’s a lot.

So, we put together some of our favorite ideas for keeping kids active, creative, and connected, no matter their age.

For Babies & Toddlers

Little ones thrive on sensory play, movement, and simple routines. The goal isn’t to fill every minute, but to offer moments of discovery and build your connection!

Try things like:

  • Water play with cups or toys

  • Exploring new textures like ice cubes, cooked pasta, finger paints

  • Baby safe nature time with a blanket in the grass, bubbles, or music

  • Storytime at the library or quiet board books at home

  • Clapping, dancing, or singing together

For Preschoolers

Preschoolers love variety, but they also love repetition. Mixing hands-on play with chances to move and create keeps them happy and learning.

  • Great options include:

  • Easy crafts using recycled materials

  • Pretend play like dress up, play kitchens, and puppet shows

  • Sensory bins with rice, beans, or sand

  • Obstacle courses inside or outside

  • Garden time like digging in the dirt, watering plants, or looking for bugs

For School Aged Kids

This age group is full of curiosity and energy. While they’re more independent, they still need structure and connections to make summer feel more meaningful.

Here are a few fun ways to fill their days:

  • Daily quiet time for reading or journaling

  • Creative challenges like LEGO builds, crafts, or science experiments

  • Screen free time balanced with fun educational apps

  • Park meetups, bike rides, scavenger hunts

  • Simple cooking or baking projects

  • Boredom isn’t always a bad thing. It often leads to the most creative play.
