Little Moments That Build Big Connections

As parents, it’s so easy to feel like we need to be doing more. Planning activities, keeping

our kids engaged, and trying to balance it all while managing our own responsibilities.

But the truth is, connection doesn’t come from doing more. It comes from being present in the moments we already have.

Between work, responsibilities, and the never-ending to-do list, it can feel nearly impossible to slow down. Sometimes, after a long day, all we want to do is sit down, scroll on our phones, and just rest. There’s laundry to fold, dishes to clean, emails to answer and somehow we’re supposed to also be fully engaged and playing? It’s a lot.

Being Intentional Matters!

Quality time doesn’t have to mean hours of uninterrupted play. It just means being intentional, even in small ways.

  • Putting your phone down for a few minutes to fully engage

  • Sitting on the floor and entering their world

  • Listening to their stories

  • Letting them help you with everyday tasks

Sure, it might take a little longer to get things done when you slow down or let your child help, but the connection you’re building and the lessons they’re learning make it more than worth it in the end.

Simple Ways to Be More Intentional Every Day

If you’re feeling stretched, here are a few realistic ways to build connection into your day:

  • Start small: Even 10–15 minutes of focused, uninterrupted time can mean everything to your child.

  • Create a “no phone” window: Pick one time of day where your attention is fully on them.

  • Include them in your world: Let them help cook, clean, or run errands with you, it builds both connection and confidence!

  • Follow their lead: Let your child choose the activity. It shows them their interests matter.

  • Be where your feet are: Even if it’s just a few minutes; be fully there.

A Simple Way to Spend Time Together

Sometimes it helps to have something easy to say “yes” to something that gets you out of the house and into a shared experience without adding more to your plate.

We have a Marvelous Minds STEM event on Saturday, April 11 from 1–4 PM at our North Forest location, where families can stop in, explore, and enjoy some hands-on activities together. There will even be a special Spider-Man visit in the afternoon, which will be a fun highlight for the kids!

This event is a chance to show up, be together, and enjoy the moment together. At the end of the day, connection isn’t about doing everything perfectly, it’s about choosing, in whatever ways you can, to be present.

Because those small, intentional moments are actually the big ones 💙
